For Ep47, I caught up with NY based painter Paddy Cohn to hear how she’s been doing since our IG live a few months ago. Paddy has been working on a new series of emotional paintings that explore her experiences during Covid. She prefers collectors to touch these new pieces and feel their energy.

She discussed “Termoil” and “Untouched” (which has hidden masks and lots of texture in the painting). Paddy also shared her thoughts on “Restless” (which has sheets included as part of the painting and signifies how restless many of us have been during this time). “Lagoon’s” vibrant colors are reminders of her time growing up in the Caribbean. After graduating from FIT, Cohn spent a decade as a textile designer and is trained in portraiture.

Currently, Paddy focuses on abstract works by adding vibrant optics, distressed textures, and forgotten elements of nature into each painting. Based in the east coast, she will be exhibiting 5 new works in a virtual exhibition in NYC Oct 14-19, 2020.
